The blaze broke out in the engine room of the tanker late last week and disabled main switchboard, the main engine and propulsion system. It was subsequently extinguished. There is reportedly no damage to the ship’s cargo compartments.
The ship was 700 nautical miles off the US West Coast whilst en route from Los Angeles to Yeosu in South Korea when the fire broke out.
