The 12,700-dwt HHL Elbe (built 2008) spotted the pair blinking a flashlight on a rescue dinghy.
Its captain brought the vessel alongside the boat and took the stranded seafarers on board.
The rescued couple were on their way from Croatia to Thailand, while the HHL Elbe was en route from Italy to India.
