The tug was damaged in the incident which occurred on Saturday and had to be replaced. Nobody was injured.
Salvage operations aboard the 52,000-gt Hoegh Osaka (built 2006) are being hampered by poor weather conditions.
Despite this the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said salvors had since managed to board the ship.
