The tugs deployed to aid the fully laden 165,500-cbm Magellan Spirit (built 2009), which is still stuck in soft mud off Nigeria’s Bonny Island, could not free the ship.
A Teekay spokesperson told TradeWinds expert advisors are currently on location to consider the next steps.
The most likely scenario is to lighten the vessel via a ship-to-ship transfer and then try to refloat it again at high tide.
