Excelerate Energy’s 138,000-cbm Excellence (built 2005) is on the scene to lighter the vessel with the intention to reload the cargo afterwards.

Four tugs will assist the refloating operation, Teekay said.

It will be the second attempt to free the 2009-built LNG carrier with the first taking place on 12 January.

When the operation is completed, the ship will then be moved to safe anchorage where a full inspection will be undertaken, Teekay said.
