Pictures from South Korean news agencies showed the 3,400–dwt Sun Wing (built 1997) engulfed in flames on 14 March, 80 miles north-east of Busan.
Reports said 13 Indonesians and three Koreans abandoned the ship as the Korean coast guard sent vessels and a helicopter to the scene.
Three men suffered burns.
The tanker developed a list and reportedly later sank. It was carrying nitric and sulphuric acid.
