A cargo vessel went adrift in Scottish waters earlier today but is now being towed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

The 3,728-dwt pallet carrier Skog (built 1991) suffered engine problems off Orkney and was without power.

A helicopter and support vessels were deployed to the scene to assist the ship.

The ten crewmembers remained onboard and pumps were transferred on to Skog by the coastguard helicopter.
