One of CMA CGM’s biggest containerships remained grounded off the port of Southampton for around an hour before it broke free.
The 17,859-teu CMA CGM Vasco De Gama (built 2015) ran aground on Sunday while en route from the UK to Algeciras, Spain.
Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) told TradeWinds: "At 12.46am 21 August, the UK Coastguard received a report that the ‘Vasco de Gama’ container ship had run aground on soft sand, west of Bramble Bank.
