Banking giant JP Morgan is said to be the latest company to have taken an interest in containership newbuildings.

The US-based financial services firm has inked a letter of intent for up to four 15,000-teu newbuildings with Hyundai Heavy Industries, according to shipping sources.

The deal is for two firm neo-panamax vessels plus options for another pair of ships.

TradeWinds understands that JP Morgan has opted for conventionally fuelled vessels, but the price tag on the newbuildings has not been disclosed.
