Merging P&O Nedlloyd into Maersk will ring up a huge one off cost of DKK 3bn ($497.5m) more than half of which will fall on this year’s result.

AP Moller - Maersk said that integration of the two liner shipping operations would be largely accomplished before the end of 2006 realising considerable synergies.

The Copenhagen based shipowner did not specify in a stock exchange announcement where the efficiencies and one off costs would arise but there must be opportunities for eliminating overlap between the two.
