Copenhagen-based Lauritzen Tankers has ordered six 50,500-dwt chemical/product tankers from China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International in an order reportedly worth $300m.
The young subsidiary of the J Lauritzen group will take delivery of the ships in 2010 and 2011. They will have capacity of 58,000-cbm, and the ability to transport a range of cargos including biethanol.
Describing the purchase price as ‘very attractive’, Lauritzen Tankers president Anders Mortensen said today the ships would guarantee the growth of the Lauritzen tanker fleet.
