Shipowner Wallenius Wilhelmsen and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) are teaming up with a local operator to build a new car carrying dock at the Chinese port of Tianjin following explosive growth at the terminal.
Vehicle imports at Tianjin have already jumped 35% to 60,551 units this year, while its local car factories are expected to be churning out 1.1 million units per year by 2010, a fourfold increase on their current volumes.
