Greek bulker operator Angelakos Hellas has been convicted of oily waste dumping from a bulker in the US.

The company was found guilty in Seattle district court on 12 counts related to discharges from the 74,100-dwt bulker Gallia Graeca (built 2001).

US attorney Annette Hayes said Angelakos, shipowner Gallia Graeca Shipping, chief engineer Konstantinos Chrysovergis and second engineer Tryfon Angelou were all found guilty of violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships, the falsification of records in a federal investigation and engaging in a scheme to defraud the US.
