The emerging Asian nations of Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam are providing a growing market for coal imports according to Klaveness.
The Norwegian shipowner says that while coal imports for these countries are coming from a low base, they are expected to “grow considerably”.
Total coal imports for these six nations were up 11% year-on-year in 2015 to 67mt, according to Peter Lindstrom, head of Klaveness Research.
