Greek owner Laskaridis Shipping has been fined EUR 1m ($1.06m) over a spill from one of its bulkers off France.
Last March, a French navy aircraft spotted a slick of 43km in length and 50 metres in width right behind the 75,039-dwt Thisseas (built 2012), 350km off Brest.
Brest criminal court sentenced the owner for pollution. The captain was fined EUR 30,000.
