Zodiac Maritime is scrapping one of its veteran capesize bulkers as a time when many others are opting to hold on to similar vessels.
Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac is understood to have sent the 170,100-dwt Snowdon (built 1998) for demolition in Bangladesh.
Shipbrokers and cash buyers have placed a $310 per ldt price tag on the transaction, valuing it at $6.8m.
Zodiac will have a fleet of 28 capesizes and VLOCs following the deal.
