Oslo-listed Songa Bulk has bought its fifth ship as its expansion continues.

The company said it had agreed to acquire the 80,000-dwt Flama (built 2011) for $14.8m.

The ship was built at STX in Korea and will be renamed Songa Flama.

It is owned by Cerba Denizcilik of Turkey.

Delivery should take place before the end of March.

Songa chairman Arne Blystad said: "We are pleased that the company is able to identify carefully selected candidates and carry out transactions within the parameters of the company's strategy.

"We continue to find asset values attractive in this part of the cycle whilst maintaining a selective approach to the assets we target."
