Russia’s North-Western Shipping has pushed up its cargo volumes during a positive 2016.

The company, part of UCL Holding, carried 5.7m tons last year, up 18% from 2015.

Of this, 1.8m was transported on its 10 new DCV36-type vessels and its seven RSD49 newbuildings.

It shipped 1.8m tons of grain cargo, up 26%, 0.9m tons of ferrous materials, down 10%, and 0.8m tons of chemical and mineral fertilisers, which was unchanged from the previous year.
