Japanese tonnnage suppliers are proposing a new charter party clause under which operators will be asked to pay months of hire in advance as security.
The move comes as companies once again seek investment opportunities in the dry bulk newbuilding market.
Last week, TradeWinds reported that Nisshin Shipping is ordering five kamsarmax newbuildings in China and is set to expand the order in Japan.
