Dry bulk steals the show in New York

The story of the annual Capital Link Maritime Forum could largely be told by the number of people in the room at the Metropolitan Club, near Central Park, in Manhattan, New York.

The only panel to draw a standing-room-only crowd was the collection of dry bulk owners speaking after lunch.

For an event that is all about gauging and stimulating investor interest, people were, after all, voting with their feet.

Now leave it to Scorpio's president Robert Bugbee to suggest that a relatively less-crowded room for his products tanker panel was a sign that sector is about to lift.

Then again, as the only shipowner to appear on both panels, maybe he is on to something.
