Greece’s Pavimar is said to have made its first purchase in eight months, after being linked by Greek brokers to a private deal involving a 12-year-old panamax.

Several international brokers report the Japanese-owned, Sasebo-built bulker as sold for about $13.6m.

Managers at the Athens-based company did not responded to a request for comment by TradeWinds' deadline.

However, other market sources in Athens are urging caution when making definitive statements about the sales of Japanese-owned ships.
