Indonesia has postponed a plan to give domestic owners first rights to coal, palm oil and rice cargoes.

The cabotage scheme, which would also have required exporters to use Indonesian insurers, has been halted for up to a year for a policy review, sources cited by the Platts news agency said.

"I think it is right for the government to postpone and try to come up with a better solution," a major Indonesian coal miner was quoted as saying.
