Polys Hajiaonnou told analysts today that his New York-listed bulker owner has liquidity to order more vessels but will likely wait until the first quarter of next year in order to get the right ship design at the right price.

“I think yards at the moment are resisting the pressure and hiding their berths, and they want to raise newbuilding prices,” he said in a conference call to discuss the company’s better-than-expected third-quarter profit.
