Rio de Janeiro-based Vale declared force majeure on 27 December due to heavy fainfall in the southeast of the country.
The railway system which carries ore from Minas Gerais state to the port of Tuburao was shut as a result of the weather.
Vale had anticipated the stoppage to cut 3 million to 4 million tons from iron ore shipments out of the the state of Espirito Santo.
