It said in a stock exchange statement that it wants to order three 50,000-dwt ships at a domestic yard for coastal coal transport.
Shareholders will vote on the plan at a meeting on 26 September.
Ningbo's newest bulkers of a similar size were delivered in 2012.
The company is owned by Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group.
