Robert Stenvik, a partner at ViaMar, explains with China Merchants and Cosco now involved on the ownership side the giant bulkers will begin to trade directly between Brazil and China.
Speaking in London today, Stenvik says the shredding of Valemax restrictions on the dry bulk market would be relatively moderate.
He adds such a shift in Chinese policy would lead to only a slight revision of freight forecasts.
