Its cargoships carried 6.3m tonnes, while tonne-kilometres fell 11% to 7.4bn, it said.

The performance reflected challenging navigation conditions, as well as critically low water levels in the central basin.

Cargo handling inside Russia decreased by 37.3% to 2.3m tonnes.

It expects to post a 12% rise in revenue from cargo transport to RUB 4.1bn ($66.32m), however.

Its net profit in the first nine months of 2014 was up 63.5%
