French customs officials have reportedly seized 2.4 tonnes of cocaine from a general cargoship.

They carried out the drugs bust at Boulogne-sur-Mer on the 1,520-dwt Carib Palm (built 1977) as stopped their on the way to Poland from Colombia, according to AFP.

The drugs have a street value of about EUR 50m ($55m).

The Moldovan-flag ship is controlled by St Vincent-based Carib Coastal Marine Shipping, which could not be reached for comment.
