Positive sentiments about a possible improvement in the shipping markets were expressed at the Sea Asia Conference’s Global Forum yesterday afternoon — although the four-strong panel cautioned that supply restraint is vital if the industry wants to see a sustainable recovery.

The shipping experts on the panel were mostly in agreement with DBS Group chief executive Piyush Gupta when he opened the discussion by saying there were optimistic noises being made for the global economy and shipping industry in the short term.
