Containership and tanker owners have the most to gain from the IMF’s improved demand outlook, according to analysts at Clarksons Platou Securities.

Analysts at the brokerage continue to believe the markets are heading towards an inflection point with stronger growth prospects "obviously good for shipping".

Frode Morkedal and Herman Hildan said: “Stronger economic growth at the same time as fewer newbuilds are set to be delivered from shipyards, should support a continues cyclical recovery in freight rates and asset values across sectors.
