The lender confirmed to TradeWinds that it has earmarked ships worth EUR 600m ($800m) for disposal.
Five investors have been chosen from 80 companies to bid for the first 10 ships, worth EUR 300m.
A second tender for another 10 vessels worth EUR 300m will follow. Agreements could be in place by the end of the year.
The move was first revealed by Wolfgang Topp, the head of its restructuring unit, speaking to Bloomberg.
