Ukrainian tycoon Sergei Taruta, whose company ISD controlsthe shipyard, told the Financial Times: “The situation is being pushed to thelimit. To save the shipyard we have only days, not weeks or months.”

He put the price of continued operation at $58m.

Taruta blamed the government, which still has a 25% stake inthe plant, the birthplace of the Solidarity movement in the 1980s.

“I
