Its loss for the three months to the end of December came in at $3.28m, against a $72.86m deficit at this stage 12 months ago.
Mercator says revenue increased despite a smaller fleet, climbing 29% to $23.18m in a better spot market.
A major role in the reduced deficit, however, was provisions on chartered and sold vessels of over $50m recorded 12 months ago which were not repeated.
