Officials from the Batam administration met this week with representatives from exports group Ubifrance.
Ubifrance told the Indonesian side it wanted to further study the island's shipyard industry before making any decision, according to Batam administration deputy for business development, Istono, who was quoted by the Antara news agency.
"We have also told them about successful shipping companies in Batam," he added.
