The magnate is creating a 78-ship-strong bulker owner with the Golden Ocean name surviving post-post merger attached to the Knightsbridge legal platform.

The deal moved a step closer to completion with official papers filed with US regulators today. They said: “The combined company's ambition is to be a clear market leader both from a financial and operational perspective. 

“Upon an expected recovery of the dry bulk market and as newbuildings are brought into the fleet, the companies believe the combined company will generate significant cash flow.
