The company, controlled by Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista, said it had been notified by creditor organisation Nordic Trustee that an FPSO-leasing subsidiary had not met its obligations, Reuters said.
The 284,000-dwt OSX 3 (built 1989) is used by Brazilian oil company Oleo e Gas at its Tubarao Martelo field.
Oleo e Gas said on Monday it had suspended payments for OSX 3 for six months because it had failed to come to an agreement with OSX over future payments for the unit.
