Mohammed Sharaf, the long-serving chief executive of DP World, has stepped from the post at short notice.
The United Arab Emirates-based company said he had “retired” from the company to “pursue other opportunities”.
The board said it has begun a process to identify a permanent successor. Pending that appointment, DP World chairman Sultan bin Sulayem will take over on an interim basis.
