State-owned Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has posted higher earnings for its third quarter as the tanker market aided the result.

Net profit to 31 December was INR 596.6m ($8.77m), compared to INR 313.5m in the same period a year ago.

Total revenue was up at INR 11.19bn from INR 10.25bn.

Containerships and ferries lost INR 602m against INR 420m in 2014, but tankers, bulkers and gas carriers posted profit of INR 1.07bn
