DryShips paid $66.8m in management fees and other costs to private affiliates of chief executive George Economou, which represented a 27.6% decline from last year.

But the figure marks an increase in the percentage of the New York-listed company’s revenue that is paid to the Greek shipping tycoon’s private management and consultancy companies. They came during a year that saw revenue decline significantly, culminating with DryShips suspending principal and balloon payments on its bank loans.

The
