The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) has condemned an offer by a "small coalition" of Ukrainian trade unions to slash minimum wages for crew.
It said the Ukrainian National Platform of Maritime Trade Unions is touting for business by promising to undercut agreed and negotiated conditions.
Shipowners are being publicly offered the chance to evade the agreed ITF monthly minimum wage for ratings of $1,806, and instead paying $801 less.
