SeaOne has forged a letter of intent with Samsung Heavy Industries that could see the South Korean shipyard group build a series of 12 articulated tug barges that will be the first to carry compressed gas liquids (CGL).

The order could cost more than $1.5bn, SeaOne Holdings president Bruce Hall told TradeWinds.

He says negotiations are underway to ink a firm contract, and after that each ship will take 18 months to build.
