NextDecade, a private equity-backed LNG developer, signed an agreement to develop a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to supply the Irish gas market.
The memorandum of understanding between NextDecade and the Port of Cork Company requires they negotiate exclusively on developing the LNG import project.
NextDecade said the project aims to import three million tonnes per annum. NextDecade said it is in discussions with European energy companies to enter long-term purchase contracts for gas from NextDecade's under-construction Rio Grande LNG project in South Texas
