Italian energy operator Edison has gone out to selected shipowners with an enquiry for a small-scale LNG carrier.

A spokesman for the EDF Energy-controlled outfit says the company has launched a tender for a small-scale LNG carrier with a capacity of about 27,500 cbm.

He says Edison will use the ship to supply LNG to its own facilities, which the company is seeking permission to build at Ravenna in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy and Oristano in Sardinia for start up in 2020 to 2021.
