An LNG carrier newbuilding is being delayed as its South Korean shipbuilder wrestles with the country's first application of its home-grown new membrane-type cargo containment system, KC-1.

TradeWinds has learned that the first of two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers contracted by SK Shipping on the back of long-term charter business with state-run Korea Gas (Kogas) is expected to be handed over to its owners at least six months later than planned.
