There are now nearly 230 LNG-fuelled vessels globally, 112 of which are firm newbuilding orders.

According to classification society DNV GL, which last year opened LNG bunkering information portal LNGi, there are also now 114 so-called “LNG-ready” vessels that are being, or have been, built so they can be easily retrofitted to accommodate fuel gas lines and bunker tanks.

But it is the list of vessels under construction, when set against the existing ships, where the changes in the uptake of LNG fuelling are starting to show.
