Statoil has shortlisted four companies in its tender to secure one or two VLGC newbuildings on long-term charters.
The shortlisted bidders are understood to be Oslo-listed Solvang, New York-listed Dorian LPG, Singapore shipowner Petredec and South Korea's Polaris Shipping.
The tender has drawn interest from VLGC players globally for ships that will be ordered for delivery in 2019 and are expected to cost about $73m each.
