Refurbishment of a 19-year-old LNG carrier controlled by Italy’s Eni is taking longer than expected after cargo tank issues were found.

Industry sources reveal that the tank linings on the 65,000-cbm LNG Lerici (built 1998), which is in Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard, need to be replaced.

They say impurities appear to have got into the inert gas used in the tanks when the Italian-built vessel was laid up.
