Trafigura’s head of LNG says the trading house was taken unawares by the sudden spike in LNG demand in Asia last winter.
“We were quite surprised,” Hadi Hallouche told delegates at the Sea Asia LNG Forum on Tuesday during Singapore Maritime Week.
While China’s switching from coal to gas was a main contributor, he said it was just one of several factors that contributed to the surge.
