Two LNG carrier newbuildings constructed using South Korea’s new KC-1 LNG cargo containment system at Samsung Heavy Industries are to undergo repair work and further investigation after the ships’ long-term charterer SK Shipping found technical issues on the vessels.

Chul-hee Lee, who is chief executive at Korea Gas Corp (Kogas) KC-1 spin-off KC LNG Tech, said the 174,000-cbm newbuildings SK Serenity and SK Spica have returned to SHI.
