The company said on its website that Anhui Huaqiang Natural Gas is paying more than CNY 100m ($16.1m) for the first three firm ships.
It intends to order another 10 in October, with more to follow.
The dual-fuel barges are 4,000 gt, with two 250-cbm LNG storage tanks.
They will be used to supply ships on China's rivers.
